There is a Song Lyrics

THERE IS A SONG

(Chris Dedrick/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

There is a song of peace, and we have found it,
There is a flow of love, and we will sound it.
An ancient friend is visiting our garden gate,
His ever-newness wakes us from a dormant state.

There is a light tonight, it draws the winged,
Like moths we know the fire, we dance and sing it
Our hearts pure tears of joy are as a silent hope,
To fly the way shown by a blessed phalarope.

There is a song of thanks, we live within it,
The way has always been, now we begin it,
In harmony we see beyond the death of birth,
In unity the Maker knows the made-of-earth..

CANADA IN SPRINGTIME

(Chris Dedrick/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

Canada in springtime, daffodils beneath the sun,
Cheer up says the robin for your love has just begun.
Canada in spring, Canada in love.

I will meet you in Toronto, we will have some bread and wine
With the green grass for a table in a park beyond your mind.

Canada in springtime, daffodils beneath the sun,
Cheer up says the robin for your love has just begun.
Canada in spring, Canada in love.

I will take you to the country, with the morning still in dark
I will kiss the way you love me, in the sunrise of your heart.

Canada in springtime, daffodils beneath the sun,
Cheer up says the robin for your love has just begun.
Canada in spring, Canada in love.

I love the way you answer with your laugh the robin’s song,
Your eyes are as the skylight to the love that shines at dawn.
Canada, na na na…

PETER, PAUL AND MARY

(Chris Dedrick/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

On this rock by the sea, Peter sang a song to me,
How the little ones must grow beyond the mist.
And before the dragon’s cry, Peter three times did deny,
That he knew the song was That and never this.

Oh, Paul, see the Light
You have to think three times for it to be alright
Oh, Paul, greet the dawn,
You’ll be calling out the unnamed word in song.

In the bags packed today, seven demons cast away
And the song that Mary serves begins to rhyme.
For she saw her love again in the leaving of the plane,
In the garden, in the morning glory time.

Oh, Paul, see the Light
You have to think three times for it to be alright
Oh, Paul, greet the dawn,
You’ll be calling out the unnamed word in song.

Peter, Paul and Mary walked upon the sea
Sang a song of freedom till love taught them to be.
Peter, Paul and Mary answer in the wind
Ring the bell of glory, He’s here again, here again, here again.
La la la…

On this rock by the sea, Peter sang a song to me
How the little ones must grow beyond the mist
And before the dragon’s cry, Peter three times did deny
That he knew the song was That and never this.

Oh, Paul, see the Light
You have to think three times for it to be alright
Oh, Paul, greet the dawn,
You’ll be calling out the unnamed word in song.

Peter, Paul and Mary walked upon the sea
Sang a song of freedom till love taught them to be.
Peter, Paul and Mary answer in the wind
Ring the bell of glory, He’s here again, here again, here again.

PINEAPPLE, CRABAPPLE

(Sandra Zynczak and John Hoover/J.A. Zynczak, Inc./ASCAP)

Pineapple, Crabapple, sweet smelling lime;
Graham crackers, egg sauces, rhythm in time;
Song bitter sweet, a musical treat, I’m riding my bike singing good things to eat.
Look at the colours, six kinds of green;
Blue yellow flowers with orange in between.
Butterfly wings, such beautiful things,
I’m riding along with my eyes wide open and I’m singing a song.
I’m wheelin’, I’m feelin’, I’m happy and strong.
I smell a skunk cabbage walking on the bog walk.
If I’m quiet enough I’ll even hear the frogs talk.
Lying in a meadow of blue grass and clover,
Soft summer breezes cover me over
Weaving a bloom on harmony’s loom;
Daffodils humming a hummingbird’s tune.
Honeysuckle, milkweed, delightful temptation;
Blackberries, chokecherries, nature’s creation;
A fragrance so rare like little kids hair;
It’s here now, it’s there now, it’s everywhere and I’m singing a song,
It’s real and I’m feeling it’s fragile and strong.
Toes goin’ squish-squash, sliding through the wet moss;
a ditch running gurgle slosh, I think I’ll try to jump across.
Hair streaming windblown; legs wheeling round and round,
Road racing under me, my bike blends into the sounds of rhythm and time and seasons and rhyme.
I’m riding along and I feel like singing so I’ll sing you a song, sing you a song.
I’m reelin’, I’m feelin’, I’m happy and strong.
Sing you a song, Wheelin’ along . . .

I WANNA BE THERE

(Chris Dedrick/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

I wanna be there when the lion lays down with the lamb;
I wanna be there when an angel comes to marry my old man,
I wanna be there when the President is sainted by the Pope;
I wanna be there in an age that offers more than hope.

Every day’s a holiday and I’ll be there.
Every song’s a song of praise and sung with care.
Everyone’s your friend ‘cause everyone knows only One.
I wanna be there when the song is sung,

Come to the mountain where the babblin’ brook begins to flow.
Come to the valley where the rain is gentle and the magic gardens grow.
Come to your senses; we’ll be leaving soon because there won’t be time to spend.
Come to the sunshine where the summer rainbow sings again.

Every day’s a holiday and I’ll be there.
Every song’s a song of praise and sung with care.
Everyone’s your friend ‘cause everyone knows only One.
I wanna be there when the song is sung,

I wanna be there . . .

THE SYMBOLS RING

(Chris Dedrick/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

You can look beyond the dream you dream into another way of seeing.
You can see beyond the thoughts you think into another way of Being One!

Where, from where do the children come?
The Pied Piper pipes and the footsteps run.
The moon slips away and we see the sun awakened from a dream to another One.
Where, oh where is the changeless One that reveals how the reel of time is spun?

The dawn of the daylight has the dewdrops turn to wine.
He says it is the father out of time.

While the symbols ring, while the voices sing.
Hear the sound of strings, hear the trumpet call.
While the symbols ring, while the voices sing.
Come to the ball, come now One in all.

You can look beyond the dream you dream into another way of seeing.
You can see beyond the thoughts you think into another way of Being One!

Where, from where do the voices come?
The breath of my life is calling “Come”.
I feel in my heart there’s an answer to the call.
It says to look in Love for Love is all.

While the symbols ring, while the voices sing.
Hear the sound of strings, hear the trumpet call.
While the symbols ring, while the voices sing.
Come to the ball, come now One in all.

While the symbols ring, while the voices sing.
Hear the sound of strings, hear the trumpet call.
While the symbols ring, while the voices sing.
Come to the ball, come now One in all.

One in all, One in all!

LOVE DOES NOT DIE

(Chris Dedrick/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

If you don’t come home tonight I’ll see you in the dawn;
Life doesn’t die, life doesn’t die.
If the sunlight disappears, I’ll know the day flows on
Beyond my eyes, beyond my eyes.

Life does not die, no, life does not die, no.
You can cry until your vision clears, but life does not die.

If it seems we’re two apart, I’ll know that there is one;
One doesn’t lie, one doesn’t lie.
In the stillness of a tempest wind an angel’s work is done;
A ribbon ties, a ribbon ties.

One does not lie, no, one does not lie, no.
You can die until your vision clears, but one does not lie.

If we seem to lose our love, I’ll know that love is all;
Love doesn’t die, love doesn’t die.
If the flowers wait ‘till spring to bloom, I’ll know them in the fall
Within my “I”, within my “I”.

Love does not die, no, love does not die, no.
You can cry until your vision clears, but love does not die.

STAY

(Ellen Dedrick Griffin/Lamplighter Publishing Co./SOCAN)

Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay.

Never thought I’d ever really love you.
Never thought I’d ever really care.
Every day I think I should be leaving,
But every night there by your side I’d stay.

Now there’s been a simple change; gets better every day.
And if I’ve had to rearrange, well I don’t care ‘cause with you I’ll stay.

Now I know there is a love between us.
Now I know it’s gonna keep on growing
Every day I’ll keep this love inside me.
So every night there by your side I’ll stay.

You said the words you knew
Would make me want to have to need to stay.

Never thought I’d ever really love you,
Never thought I’d ever really care.
Every day I think I should be leaving, I think I’m leaving you.
But every night, there by your side I’d stay.

Stay, stay . . .
